For decades, Independence Bank has grown alongside the Henderson community-not just as a financial institution, but as a committed neighbor, partner, and supporter of the people who call this place home. We’re Here. For Good.

Our roots as a community bank in Henderson began in the late 1990s when we established a presence on Powell Street with the opening of our Audubon branch in 1997. Shortly after, in 1999, we opened our Elm Street location and made the intentional move to be closer to downtown to build stronger relationships where community life thrived.
As Henderson grew, so did we. We opened a second location in 2003, followed by our Highway 60 location in 2006. More locations meant growing a larger team in Henderson, building a stronger community Board of Directors, and serving more needs for our customers.

That momentum led to a big year in 2011. It’s when we opened our Liberty Square office, replacing the original Elm Street property and reinforcing our long-term commitment to downtown Henderson. To let the community know the building is just as much Henderson’s as it is Independence Bank’s, we celebrated our opening with a free concert featuring Martina McBride and Jack Ingram in the middle of Green Street!
Community is always our focus. We believe that going forward by giving back is what truly makes us here for good. That doesn’t just include our dollars, but also the giving of our time.
Our Henderson team has played an active role in supporting Henderson County Schools, built meaningful relationships with educators, and partnered with organizations like GRADD through Seniors Feeding Seniors. We’ve also supported Build-a-Bed through the Volunteer and Information Center, and sponsored the Henderson County Schools Educator of the Year Award for many years.

Giving back has always been a part of who we are. From building a Habitat for Humanity home, to putting a roof on a neighbor’s house in need, to helping families during times of loss, we’ve believed that banking is about service-especially when it matters most.
Our fundraising efforts have included more than a decade of tractor drives to raise money for the American Cancer Society, mud runs, chili cook-offs, and countless events where proceeds have been directed back into the community and local charities. Partnerships like Chemo Buddies, providing blankets to those undergoing treatment, have been especially meaningful to our team.
We’ve also celebrated Henderson together. We’ve sponsored downtown fireworks, Bluegrass in the Park, and hosted outdoor movie nights at Liberty Square. That dedication to place and progress has been recognized over the years, including honors from the Downtown Henderson Partnership, most notably Best Business in 2018 and recognition of our downtown building in 2012.

But our story isn’t just about buildings or expansion-it’s about people.
At our core, Independence Bank has always been about believing in Henderson’s people-supporting entreprenuers who return home to invest in their hometown, helping families and farmers across the region, and standing behind everyday people who make this community what it is.
The pride our employees feel wearing the Independence Bank logo in Henderson says it all. No matter where they work or serve, they know they represent something bigger than a bank. They represent trust, service, and a shared love for this community.
Our success has never been measured solely in dollars-it’s measured in relationships, effort, and the impact we’ve been able to make together. And as Henderson continues to grow, we’re honored to keep growing with it.
We’re Independence Bank. We’re Here. For Good.
