Man driving tractor waves as he goes past.

‘Dan Dan the Farmall Man’ Tractor Drive helps support youth in Graves County.

Community pride rolled through Graves County on the morning of Saturday, July 26—literally—as dozens of tractors hit the road for a good cause. This year, 29 tractors were driven through Graves County, and over $4,000 was donated to support local youth.

“Dan Dan the Farmall Man” Tractor Drive is an annual event powered by local support and has a shared mission to help others. The engine behind this tradition is Independence Bank in Graves County. Launched in honor of Danny Flood—affectionately remembered as “Dan Dan the Farmall Man”—the occasion brings tractor enthusiasts together to give back.

Each year, the drive raises money for Shop with a Deputy, a program that helps local children in need enjoy a Christmas shopping trip with a member of the Graves County Sheriff’s Department. More than $30,000 has been raised since 2017, helping ensure no child is left out during the holiday season.

But, the event also celebrates the memory of both Danny Flood and his brother Jeff. Working alongside their sister, Jennifer Flood Hawkins, the Bank began awarding the Flood Scholarship. Since 2017, it’s given $14,000 to local high school students.

Those funds are part of a much larger effort. Since 2001, Independence Bank has awarded over $1.9 million in scholarships to students in 15 Kentucky counties. And next year marks 25 years of that ongoing commitment to education.

This year’s ride followed a scenic route through Graves County, led by the Sheriff’s Department and supported by the Rescue Squad and local fire crews. The final stop? A community lunch at Pete Galloway’s farm on Eagle Road.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this event.
